Before we knuckle down for the serious business of the 2017 BTCC campaign, we thought we’d let off some steam after a very hard fought 2016 season. As a way of saying thank you to all of our sponsors and associates, team boss, David Bartrum, hosted what is now known as ‘David’s Hot Dog Day’ at Brands Hatch.

Here we invite along all of the team’s sponsors, bolt passenger seats into the race cars, strap them in alongside our race drivers, and send them out on the track for the ride of their lives! Oh, and we also cook up some hot dogs to keep everyone fed too!

This year we had a selection of cars hitting the hallowed tarmac at Brands, including Mat Jackson in the Focus BTCC car, Jonny Adam and Ross Wylie in the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 racer, Michael Caine in the Porsche 911 GT racer, as well as a couple of Caterhams too. We also invited any team members or sponsors (including David Bartrum) to bring along their Mk3 Focus RSs, and these were on track throughout the day too – sometimes being piloted by our racing drivers!

As well as a way of saying thanks for everyone’s efforts in 2016, the day also allowed us to say goodbye to very close friend. Colin Fowell, founder of Corbeau, sadly passed away earlier in the year, so as a fitting send-off for this fellow racer we thought we’d strap him in the touring car and send him out for a few hot laps with Mat Jackson before scattering his ashes around the circuit.

All in all it was a fantastic day, and one that everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed. But now we’ve all vented some steam it is time to look forward to the 2017 season. And we’ve got a couple of bits of news that we can share with you. First up, building on the hugely successful campaign last year, this year David wants to focus all of our efforts on winning the BTCC outright. So much so that he has even decided to take a sabbatical from GT racing so all of the team’s resources can be put towards lifting the BTCC crown in 2017! And, secondly, to help us achieve that we are going to field three Focus STs next year! Driver line-ups, sponsors, and more details will all be announced in due course, but let’s just say we are all very excited about the prospects for 2017!
