Default Darrin's Mk4 Rebuild

Hi all,

Please bare with me as I have a lot to say here to bring you up to speed lol.

I bought the car in 2009. It is a Mk4 and back then it was powered by an FRP engine. I spent a bit of money on it and this is how it was before I took it off the road.

It started getting lots of problems which were really annoying me, so I decided to start from scratch and ripped it apart.

I bought a few bits like a new bumper, GAZ coilovers, FRP rear braks etc, and sold all the FRP stuff.

I then sent the car away to get a roll cage welded in by ShawSpeed up in Cheshire

While this was gone I bought an ST150 engine

all of this stuff

and a Carbon Fibre roof

I then went to collect the car, which had a Custom Cages UK Multipoint cage welded in, the roof chopped out, the front end made detachable and some holes welded up.

the quality of welding was amazing

and my latest purchase are my CompBrake Performance Wishbones

with built in positive caster and finite adjustment for camber

And thats where I am at the moment.

Progress will be slow due to the spec of the engine costing so much and me still being a student. But I will get therein the end!

Compomotives of some sort, Im yet to decide!

Its not too much of a task. I have got some custom engine mounts already, but these have been sent away to be refine and made from a better material.

Wiring is the only other issue, but I will be running on standalone management, so it shouldnt be too difficult.

Cheers for the comments.

Not much can be done at the moment due to money, But Im saving up for some Forged rods and pistons.

Going to try get the auxillary loom chopped down and a few other bits done, seeing that I can do them without spending money lol

No worries mate, just make sure you keep us all updated on here and let us know when it's nearly finished so we can get the ball rolling on getting it in the mag. Keep up the good work though fella, will be a really neat car when it's done.
