Update on our Fiesta ST (294)
The Fiesta has been on the receiving end of some more spannering.
We have been considering poly bushes for some time now. So, armed with a box full of brightly coloured chunks of polyurethane we set about dismantling the car.
It’s no small task as the whole rear beam has to come off, as do both wishbones, and the subframe has to be dropped too to access the anti-roll bar. With our trusty two-post ramp and Jamie in full-on ‘beefcake mode’ the car was stripped in no time. Getting the bushes out, and the poly ones in was far from easy, but was made easier with the use of our Draper press and a lot of Fairy Liquid (seriously).
The handling, turn-in and general sharpness is noticeably increased, but thankfully the ride quality hasn’t suffered as much as you’d expect with the swap from rubber to poly.
Also, seeing as the car has just clicked over to 20,000miles we have given it another service. We ordered filters and plugs from fordpartsplus.net, and as usual they arrived the next day. We also obtained some Ford specific oil from Pace Products. So, fully serviced and handling better than ever, the ST’s damn fine!
Thanks
