Feast your eyes on my snazzy new Devil Developments’ inlet! It’s not just here to look pretty though; it will perform flawlessly and fits perfectly.

Before Lee swapped the inlet and the standard cams and springs for Zetec Turbo Cat Cams, he ran it on his Dyno Dynamics rolling road.

We got a base figure of 256bhp. That’s a bit down on previous runs, but these rollers are known as ego busters, and I did notice that my silicone hose on the Pulsar inlet was a little twisted. I won’t have to worry about that much longer as the DD inlet is being bolted on. It does away with any silicone so no chance of it twisting.

The Cat Cams are still set to zero, the head ports remain standard size with the only headwork at this stage being three-angle valve seats, so I was keen to see the difference, if any. I was impressed to see it doing 248bhp at 9psi. A second run at 7psi saw a bit of an increase to 251.6bhp, again this is with the cams needing tweaks, the fuel still running rich, and Lee wants to add some more ignition. So, there is lots of scope for more power.

Lee is looking into driveshaft options and costs for the FRS gearbox conversion. That will give me peace of mind and allow me to beast it conscience free. He’s also persuading me to swap to KMS engine management. The map got wiped from the Emerald and KMS is his preferred ECU.

I want driveability as much as power and if this ECU means Lee can do a better map, I’m all for it. There is still scope for more power as the original map was only a quick one and the revs are still capped to 6400rpm. I can’t wait to see the results when I get behind the wheel again!

Thanks
Devil Developments
